I was invited as a guest composer at the Vivaldi’s Virtuosas! concert, where The Little Orchestra Society performed my 2019 string quartet piece, Blustery Day!
I have the opportunity to talk on stage about the piece to the audience of 3 to 10-year olds during the 4 concerts on March 5th and 6th. Special thanks to David Alan Miller, artistic advisor of L.O.S., and Noah Kayser-Hirsh!

Carson Scholars Fund recognizes students with “a minimum GPA of 3.75 and display humanitarian qualities through community service. Scholarships are awarded solely on the basis of academic achievement and humanitarian qualities, without regard to financial need, ethnicity, creed or religion.”
Tribeca New Music Honorable Mention
Nyarlock Tango was selected as the Division II Honorable Mention for Tribeca New Music Young Composer Competition! I have been submitting pieces to this competition for a few years, admiring the clever, contemporary weavings of sound by the winners, and I was stunned to see my name on the website this year!
MYO Emerging Composers Competition 1st Prize Winner
From the Darkness was selected as the Orchestra Division I 1st prize winner of the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra of NY Emerging Composers Competition! I was super thrilled to tell my grandmother, a unique and flamboyant artist in Japan who asked me to write this piece based on her painting and poem. Her energy and art will forever inspire me!
National Young Composers Challenge Winner!
Whoa, I am also thrilled to announce that I am an ensemble winner of the National Young Composers Challenge 2021! All applicants receive feedback from the wonderful judges of the competition, and that alone is an awesome experience. And, I can’t wait to attend a masterclass and the NYCC Composium in April 2022!

National YoungArts Merit Winner!
I was announced as a merit winner for the National YoungArts competition 2022! I am honored to be a part of such a wonderful program.
One Night, One Show, One Community
I was invited to perform at a benefit concert in Rye Town Park as a fundraiser for the Storm Ida victims in the Mamaroneck area. I played Carlos Gardel’s Por Una Cabeza, Dvorak’s Songs My Mother Taught Me, and Morricone’s Once Upon a Time in the West with my friend Jessi. (check out the performance here!)
This was the first time playing on a show mobile, which was exciting, and it is an honor to be invited to play at such a meaningful event!

An exciting news; today I found out that I have been selected as a Semi-Finalist in the student division of the American Prize national non-profit competitions in the performing arts. I had submitted Hey Warrior, Keep Going, and I am excited that the piece I wrote to empower the listener during the COVID-19 pandemic was chosen, and I hope that it can be reached to more and more people out there.

Virtual Holiday Spectacular
Recently, I participated in the making of a virtual holiday spectacular presented by Kelly Buck and Jordan Eagle, both professional dancers and teachers at The Dance Gallery studio in NY. I wrote an arrangement of Silent Night and played violin, which was also choreographed to by Miss Jordan. Filming outside in the chilly winds of November was an interesting experience, but definitely a lot of fun! I am grateful for the awesome opportunity, and so incredibly inspired by Miss Kelly and Miss Jordan who put together this project from scratch with ten rehearsals and and a few filming days.

The Dance Gallery - front porch portraits
A fun fact about me that not a lot of people know: before the piano, violin, and composition lessons, my first dive into the world of arts was dance. I started taking ballet classes in Korea at the age of 3 and never stopped. Soon after moving to America, I joined The Dance Gallery, where I have been fortunate to have met so many talented and kind dancers - both teachers and students.
I wanted to share an awesome experience that I recently had, due to the generous offer from one of our amazing dance teachers - Jordan Eagle. In addition to being a professional dancer and dance instructor, Miss Jordan is also a talented photographer. She offered to engage with the Dance Gallery during the pandemic in taking pictures in their recital costume at a social distance, due to the unfortunate cancellation of our annual dance recital.
