Aftermath of MAUP #13, the S.O.S. Campaign
Although it was not a concert I performed in, I wanted to share the joy that the recent virtual concert of the W.E. Cottle School strings orchestra brought me, especially due to my participation in a small campaign (MAUP #13) of convincing the school board to continue the strings program this academic year. With reorganization of education systems necessary in order to adapt to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, it also became essential for people of my school district to convince the reluctant school district to continue the elementary school orchestra going. With the help of my friends, I put together a video over the summer that features string players of the Tuckahoe district and their personal experiences in the music program. Thank you to the board members and their kindness for listening to our stories, and I am proud of the elementary school students who overcame the obstacle of learning fully remotely and performed fearlessly. Special thanks to Ms. Lubima Shentov, conductor of the Cottle strings orchestra, who forever has my appreciation and deep regard for all of her efforts and support.
