2020 NYSSMA Call for Composers & Songwriters

The solo version of Chess recently won a competition for composers and songwriters held by NYSSMA (New York State School Music Association)! NYSSMA held a virtual winter conference this weekend, and I was fortunate to have my piece recorded and showcased in the online Young Composers Showcase on Saturday, Dec. 6th. It was a great experience to receive an evaluation of my piece from Dr. Kamala Sankaram with helpful suggestions, as well as joining a zoom call and getting to know Dr. Rob Deemer, other members of the NYSSMA committee, and the fellow composers who also won the competition.

A special thank you to Mrs. Annbritt duChateau for her beautiful performance! It was a wonderful opportunity to hear ideas and opinions of a professional Broadway pianist.
